Finding data and codes

Research Code Catalog

The catalogue of open-source software developed through academic research was launched in April 2025.

As part of Priority 3 of the National Plan for Open Science, it follows an assessment of the current state of software cataloguing.

The “Sofftware and Source Codes” working group of the Committee for Open Science implemented it with the support of the Interministerial Directorate for Digital Affairs (DINUM).

How it works

The catalog relies on HAL, which serves as its primary database. All software records in HAL are thus harvested by the catalog.

They can be enriched with information retrieved from certain repositories such as GitHub or GitLab. Harvesting occurs every 24 hours.

The catalog is based on the tool developed by DINUM for SILL (Interministerial Platform for Free Software). It offers filters by programming language, environment, and discipline.

Links are provided to HAL records, Software Heritage, source code on GitHub or GitLab, and, where applicable, to a scientific article.
